I bought this telescope 2 years ago from another astromart user. In full dislosure I have not been able to collimate it. No matter what I do I can't get my star sizes smaller. Ive decided to cut my losses so I can get back to imaging. If you are interested, please search cloudy nights for the thread titled "Not another GSO RC Collimation thread" for the details of my journey. This thread has gotten away from my issues. but early on you can see. I firmly believe that the mirrors are fine, the truss setup is fine. Just about everything has been adjusted that can be adjusted.
I cannot accept a return on this item because Ive stated that it has issues that I haven't resolved. If you don't want to tinker with Primary/secondary spacing, collimation, and every darn thing possible to get it working, DO NOT ASK ABOUT OR BUY THIS SCOPE.
Other notes:
It has dust on the primary. I have never cleaned it. Dust on the housing in some places. One of the fans has a broken fin. Not sure how or even when that happened, but the fan still spins and doesn't seem to vibrate.
includes:
Shipping:
I prefer pickup in the Colorado area. I will drive a fair distance to meet you. Currently the telescope is near Woodnland Park in Colorado at a friends observatory.
If you want to ship, I will not ship outside CONUS. You will have to pay for shipping and crating. Serious inquirys only because it will take a bit of time to put together a shipping quote.
CONUS only. If the ad is still up (e.g. NOT marked as sold), the item is still available.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Please always mark your classified ads as sold with the "Mark my ad as sold" link on the ad page while logged in. includes:
- AT14RCT Telescope
- Primary and secondary caps
- shroud.
- spacer rings
- original GSO focuser.
- Focuser works, the fine control is smooth. The coarse has a weird choppy feeling. As far as I know it has never been used, disassembled or adjusted. Not sure if this is normal. Not recommend to use this focuser anyway. Get a feathertouch or moonlight. Even for collimation I'd avoid the default focuser.
