Are my PMs being sent?

Amici,

Over the past 2 months I have PM'd more than 10 AstroMart for sale ads, yet I have never received a response from the seller. In many cases, after a couple of weeks, the items have not been marked SOLD. In these cases, I have again PM'd the seller, but again with no response.

In most cases, I have said that I would purchase the item, and even gave my PayPal ID and zip for shipping calculations

On one occasion, there has been only one hit on the ad, so presumably I was #2 in line. In most other cases, there had been only single-digit hits.

I have even taken to cc'ing my PM to myself, and I am not even receiving them.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

I can appreciate that some sellers are inundated with PMs, and cannot be bothered responding to them all, but I find it hard to believe that this is the case in all sellers that I have PM'd.

Send me a PM if you wish. I'll let you know if it gets through.

The PM is not the usual way to respond to an ad. Normal procedure is to select the "Respond to this ad" button and send a message to the advertiser. This establishes an email link that takes AM out of the loop. You can even select to send your self a copy.

Perhaps the advertisers were not expecting a PM from their ad and saw the message too late. You may have been the second to view an ad but a transaction could have been completed before the advertiser even saw your response.

Perhaps some felt that you were using the PM because you don't have a valid email account.

I think very few people actually use the PM to
communicate with sellers / buyers. The PM are more of a
last resort when all else fails. Most buyers click
on the "Repsond to this Ad" button on the ad, which
sends a message by normal e-mail (not PM) to the seller.
Most sellers just check their e-mail for potential
offers, etc., and reply my e-mail.

How are you doing the PM CC to yourself? Not sure
how to do that myself.

Send me a PM if you want. I'll let you know if
I get it.

Many thanks to John, Dan and Luis for responding.

In my original post, I feel I may have misled you. I used the wterm "PM" when I really meant that I click on the "Respond to this Ad" button and write a message in the pop-up window. I have clicked on the "CC myself" button, but I have not seen any of these copies sent to myself.

I did respond to Dan's PM. I have also responded to Luis' ad (twice) and selected the CC myself. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Guys, thanks very much for taking the time to respond and help me out. It is very much appreciated! smile

Cheers,

Shane
