Hi
I am working on a project to compile different faceplate print configuration on 3"-6" Alvan Clark refractors Dated from 1890-1915. There are some controversy regarding the letter printing on these early scopes. For example, Some were done in block letters while others in script format. Also some were dated while others were not. Another example of this confusion is the printing format outlined in Artists in Optics. they mention script printing for refractors from 1902-1909, when there are a few circulating with block printing. If you have a Clark refractor, can you please forward a picture or two of the face plate. Please include date for the scope if the faceplate is undated. I will forward the collection of the images to all who responded (there will be no mention of names, only face plate pictures and dates) and hopefully we can have a better understanding of how these were done. If you prefer you can submit anonymously. Please let me know and I can provide an email address. Thanks in advance
