I am looking to buy a portable telescope for my husband who is highly Technical by nature and profession, but who has only had time (so far) to 'dabble' in astronomy. I have spent some time looking at various models, and think that the Meade 125ETX would be ideal, but my budget may only allow for an ETX 90. (That's why I am looking in the classifieds for the best deal!) My problem is ...I know NOTHING about telescopes apart from what I have read online, and I am worried that I may miss an essential piece of kit by purchasing used equipment. What should I be looking for ? I have bought him technical stuff before that invariably neededsomething else before it could be used. A bit like getting a toy without the batteries ..only more expensive. All input would be very mushc appreciated. Many thanks.
