12 GPS UHTC LX 200 Go-to speeds

Hi all:

I just received my 12 GPS UHTC a few weeks ago, but have not been out to view with it b/c of the weather. I have asked a number of questions on Astromart and (Yahoo) before and after the purchase and appreciate all of the help. I do forget sometimes to reply to those who have helped me; I apologize.

I was hoping someone could let me know if I can slow down the go-to speed, not the slew speed, but the go-to. Until I replace the plastic gears with a set of Buck's Gears I want to preserve the gears as much as possible. I could not find a way in the manual to slow the go-to speeds.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Gregg,
You can go to the telescope set up and you will find the option for max slew speed. I always lower mine to '7' even with the Buck's gears installed.

Gregg congrats on the new scope!
I still think it is a shame that someone can make a good set of gears fo the LX200 but Meade can not! I would be very unhappy to have to modify my "Brand New" scope to make it work well. The same is true with the focuser mirror shift. Instead of fixing it they just put a focuser on the scope and lock the old one. Now that is sad too because some one has made a set of bearings that fix that problem too, but Meade did not! I am not slamming Meade just because I own a Celestron, I am slamming them because the are not improving their scopes, they just work around the problems. These are but a few of the reasons I bought the Celestron instead of the Meade.
Please, this is just a comment and not meant to start a Meade vs. Celestron thread!
