Hi All,
I just got a 2" 40mm E-lux eyepiece and was struck by it's size. A lot bigger than I anticipated. I tried it back and forth with a 1.25" 40mm and the bigger field of view is noticable. I'm wondering what I'm seeing at the edge when I move my eye left or right. It's like a dark cresent if I move my eye off center.
Is this the kidney bean I've seen mentioned? Vingetting? I'm not sure of the proper term.
Also, do all equivelant eyepieces act the same way or are some made in a way that prevents this?
Would a 2" 50mm ep be worse or better?
I also have a 2" 32mm Antares ep that doesn't do that but it's physically shorter by almost an inch (in height).
Scope is a Celestron C8, 2000mm focal length, 2" Antares Diagonal, 2" E-lux ep.
Thanks for any insight.
Jeff
