I'm looking to piggyback my Tak fs-78 atop my AP 130 on a g-11. I would be ccd'ing through either scope, depending on the target. Idealy I would use a Losmandy dovetail on top of the AP rings with the Losmandy sliding 3 point rings. I'm concerned about stiffness/rigidity/stability etc. Would the 3 point losmandy rings hold the 78 well enough with the extra weight of a ccd camera/filter wheel/etc. over long exposures?
3 point losmandy rings...

Hi Andrew, My astronomy club has a FS102 atop a 16" SCT which is held in place by the 3pt. rings you speak of. I have shot both film and CCD through it many times with out any trailing or flexure. The rings make guide star selection very easy. I also have a set of 3pt rings for my 70mm f/8 and I've had excellent results with those atop my C-11 also. Watch out for too much weight on that CG-11. With my C-11 and the 70mm, that is about all it can take before everything starts to giggle around some. I mounted my clubs FS102 on the back of my CG-11 for the heck of it one time and it was useless. Well back to the point, you shouldn't have any problems.
