Is there anyone in southern California area that has a Starmaster Versa 8" or 11" that would be willing to comment on it?

I would love to see one up close...

Anyone? Anyone? Bueler? Bueler?

Jim, I have the 11". It is rapidly becoming my overall favorite. If I could only keep one scope I think this is the one I'd keep (or maybeee the 16"). Am I an unabashed Starmaster fan? Yes. Is the Versa perfect? No. But it does so many things well. Transportable in 2 pieces in the backseat or in many pieces in a box. Quick cool-down, 1 1/4" thick mirror. Roll it out on a furniture dolly for a quick-look or stay out awhile; the 11"s let you see a lot. The eyepiece height is just right to let you sit and watch as long as you want and with the Zambuto mirror it will be awhile. It takes magnification well. Move the focuser back for a little more backfocus and low power bino-view without correctors/barlows,etc. You can get focus with any camera or eyepiece. No vibration at the eyepiece when you focus (a big deal to me). The drives are great. You'll figure out the controller in 5 minutes without reading the directions! Holds collimation even after transport. For quality, size, price, etc. it is a package that would be hard to beat. I like mine, you'll like yours! Questions? Ralph
