SCT Star Collimator Eyepiece. Would like your inputs. Sounds like it would work ok. Inputs?

Rick I am glad you made this topic. I would also like to know how well these Collimator Eyepieces work, or if they are really necessary at all. I am going to be getting a new C9.25 delivered in the next week or so and I want to get on top of this stuff now.) /bump

This is the 27mm eyepiece with a reticule consisting of concentric circles right? If so, I have one but don't use it much. It works well for low power initial collimation but eventually I need to be collimating at 400x and so I can't use it then. It works as an acceptable alignment eyepiece for GoTo scopes though....

I have one, and I like it a lot. No, it doesn't quite replace the very final touchup of getting the Airy Disk just right at 600x, but much more often than not, the seeing doesn't allow for that anyways in my Nexstar 11. However, it does get you very very close to "perfect" collimation very quickly (in minutes even if way off) and painlessly, especially when combined with collimation screw replacements like Bob's Knobs.

It also works as a great tool for initial aligment of the scope when used as a fancy crosshair.
