I recently purchased a DSH-10. I don't have a laser collimator, so I rigged one by using a laser pointer. The setup is a cardboard circle taped to the bottom of the 2" focuser tube which has a .125" hole in the center. I place my Ultima 1.25" barlow in the focuser and shine the pointer through the barlow, through the hole in the cardboard and illuminate the primary. I have to hold the pointer steady but I can get the reflection of the laser to stay on the center spot long enough to see where the image of the center spot falls on the cardboard on the bottom of the focuser tube.
My questions are, will I get reasonable results with this method? What improvements can I make to the method to get more accurate results?
Thanks!
