Binoculars Trouble Shooting

I have a pair of Orion binoculars with BAK-4 prisms. I use them for astronomy and birding. I have taken good care of them (they are only 3 months old). The worst I have done with them is leave them in the car for a few days at a time, and twice they were left outside overnight on nights with no precipitation (on a table on my covered porch).

During the day the performance is still excellent for birding. However, I have noticed that there is a semi-circular fuzzy glare around stars and planets. It is driving me crazy. It was never there until maybe 2 weeks ago; everything was a crisp pinpoint. I have carefully washed all lens surfaces with alcohol, q-tips, and lens paper and they are spotless. I looked through them backwards, and there is no condensation or any visible flaws...

Help???

One guess it that you are getting some temporary
water condensation on the internal surfaces when
going from indoors to outdoors and vice-versa.
You might get some improvement by storing them in
indoors in a dry place. Before bringing them inside
from the cold, put then in a sealed plastic bag, and
leave them there until they have warmed-up,
then remove from the bag.

Is it on one side only? Does the glare reverse its position if you use the binos in reverse (upside down, using the left bino-half with the right eye, and vice versa)? You may have a defective coating (deterioration) on one of the prisms. If it is only on one side, I'd send them back to Orion. It could also be that it is a problem with the inter-ocular distance at which the binos are set. Try setting them again carefully. Is it possible that this problem was there from the start, and you perhaps didn't notice it initially?
