Circumferential scratch?

I recently received a 15" from Spectrum after a re-coating. Aprox. 0.5" in from the edge is a long cicumferential line (scratch?) on the surface running aprox. 2/3 of the circumference. The line has the look of a very narrow abrasion and is aprox .03" wide. I have not star tested or field tested the mirror yet, since I am redesigning my cell. However, like a curved spider vein, I dont expect to see visible diffraction effects. Nonetheless its more scattered light, and the idea of such a surface defect really buges me...Thoughts?

My Swayze mirror came back from Spectrum with 3 scratches in it. They are 1.5"-2.5" long and were not visible before it went to them for coating. Not sure if they were put there before or during shipping. They do not seem to effect anything.

Is it possible the scratch was there before you sent the
mirror for re-coating? A fine scratch that goes through
the old coating is very hard to see, since it will be
dark -- reflectivity is only 4%. Only way to see it is by
shining a very bright light through the mirror. But when
you deposit aluminum in the scratch, it will suddenly be as
plain as day -- reflectivity is now 93+%.
