GRRRR! Got a new 10" DOB and for the 4th night in a row the clouds have left me frustrated...Solid overcast! Today was clear to partly cloudy all day, but now as it approches twilight, the big boys have come rolling in and and left me under a blanket once again. Such is life.

New scope of 10" = 10 solid days of cloud cover according to the "New Equipment Guide". 8)
I got a 14.5" and the areas around me have received up to 20" of rain and 5' of snow because of it. wink

I have bad news for you, Richard. I sold an eyepiece to someone in Memphis, and it won't arrive until Tuesday. So the curse in your area will unfortunately continue throughout the week.

I myself received my new Denk II on Thursday, along with the biggest snowstorm of the year. But wait—the forecast is “mostly sunny” for Wednesday.... along with a low of –13F. I think I'm crazy enough to go for it. I hear frostbite enhances image perception. ;-) No pain no gain, right?

PS - Does a binoviewer multiply the expected days of cloud cover by two?

Think I am going to invent a scope mount that will overcome this cloud cover problem. I think it will look something like a car lift at a filling station, but waaaaay taller...something to get you and your scope above any annoying cloud cover. Just pack your lunch, wave good-bye to the wife and press the assend button.

Todayayyayyayyyy I feeleeleeleel like the luckiestestest man on earthearthearth!

I put the finishing touches on the build of a 12.5 truss dob just in time for the clouds to break for 1 day (after about 3 weeks) and come roaring back for the next week. If I knew what I did I would share. For the next week, I am doing whatever my wife wants, helping old ladies across the street and rescuing kittens from trees. I obviously owe some higher power.

Per Herberts suggestions, I just got in a set of Skunk pelts mounted on my scope along with a just received new-to-me 22 Nagler. These pelts work like .. well .. a charm wink

Low and behold the clouds are starting to part, I saw a handful of stars as I was driving home. I plan on doing some observing later tonight. I may have an extra set of these pelts, should I put them on the auction page .... ?
