After a long and arduous search, I have located the perfect (and perfectly fitting) case for my CPC 1100 OTA. It's the Stanley ProMobile JobChest (50 gallon), available at Home Depot for $60. The size is 37 7/8 X 22 3/4 X 23 1/4". It's built like a tank -- made of VERY sturdy plastic (you can stand on it with no deformation), features wheels, and has a retractable pulling handle. IT weighs about 20#. It has a cabinet-style lock with keys AS WELL AS two separate locations for optional padlocks. As far as the fit, it's like it was designed for the CPC 1100. The scope lies down in the box with about 2" to spare on each end. It fits with the fork arms diagonally in the bed of the box; in other words, the scope is lying on its side with one arm below in the lower corner of the box and the other fork arm (with the hand-hold) extending to the opposite side of the box with about 2" to spare above.
When you consider that the "only other available" hard box for the CPC costs over $500 (plus shipping!), the extremely strong Stanley JobChest appears to be nothing short of a stellar bargain -- and the wheels are just the right size to allow you to stow the box in the back of your SUV (as I do) without sticking out too far! What a deal!!!
