The upper part of the attached image shows the full construction which I use for digiscoping with the D100. The only difference from the real thing is that in the field I use the Gitzo 1348 MKII tripod, with the Manfrotto 393 head. The bottom picture shows tha parts it's made of, from left to right: Nikon UBK holder, Swarovski STS65HD tube, Swarovski ST80 eyepiece (X20-60), home made adapter with a "T" thread (~42 mm), a 42-52mm ring, Nikon D100 with a 50/1.8 lens, cable release.
The lens is set at F:2.2-2.5, distance is set to infinity. The camera is set for aperture priority, matrix or center-weighted average metering. Usually I use -1 EV compensation, due to the local harsh sunlight. Mirror is delayed.
This combination gets me up to 3,000 mm effective focal length, and it takes 10-15 minutes to assemble it. In most cases I prefer the CP4500, in a very similar setup, as it takes three minutes to set it up.
