Welp, if you do the math one realizes that you can pretty much get a Discovery 10" PDHQ for the same price as a
C6-RGT refractor. Now, I dont need to really list the differences between the 2 because everybody knows pretty much.

I would just like your opinions as to which one would be the more obvious buy.

I dont think anyone has compared these 2 scopes as obviously they are 2 completely different animals but it'd be interesting to see what people think and which they would prefer for the money.

Well... I live is South Florida which actually has some of the best winter viewing there is because of the everglades and temperature. But, close to home is terrible of course. No matter WHAT I'll be transporting to a dark sky area out west in the swamps.

I have a large enough vehicle so I'm not worried about either scope. Setup time is better on the Dob of course, just heavier to carry.

On all other merits is where I get a little confused in choosing.

The 10 inch PDHQ is a pretty damn nice scope but it is a big scope for a 10 incher. It is only marginally lighter and smaller than the 12.5 inch F5 PDHQ.

There are other options out there, the Orion 10 inch F5 scope with a Paracorr will run about the same, be significantly easier to use and have the Intelliscope function.

In my view, the added aperture of a 10 inch instrument is definitely worth it, the 10 inch PDHQ is supposed to be a planet killer so the views will be spectacular in comparison to the 6 incher...

Thats my view.
