Has anyone found a good dewshield that will fit on a Protostar Blacklite BL-12 OTA http://www.protostar.biz/blite.htm ?
I know that I could just email Astrozap and find out what they recommend, but I figured I'd see if anyone had a homemade dob with this tube and had found something that works well.
I have read through past forums about Just-Cheney and Astrozap rigid and flexible dewshields, but I haven't been able to find a post about a good dew shield for a homemade Dob.
I know that Bryan from Protostar recommends making one out of the same material as the tube. However, I want the option of having end trim on the tube itself and not on the dewshield only. The coupler for the blacklite tubing wouldn't allow that.
I attached a picture of my makeshift (but functional) dewshield made with some kind of plastic, covered in foil, lined with insulation and held together with velcro. It's just not as aesthetically pleasing as I'd like (because of the foil and the fact that the insulation is being held in with tape).
Thanks in advance for the help!
UPDATE FROM 7-19-11:
In case anyone else is interested, got this from Just-Cheney today:
"We do not make dew shields for any Newtonian telescope. When we quilt the
insulation material, it shrinks the size and it is very difficult to align
the hole for the focuser. So we decided not to attempt any more.
Thank you for your interest.
