My new dob came with a 2" JMI Crayford focuser. I new to reflector-land, so would someone be able to tell me is this is good focuser. What's better, and is it worth the upgrade?

Thanks,
Dannon

I've been using a JMI DX2 focuser with 8" dobs for several years. It's a very good focuser and I haven't felt the need to upgrade. If you're using a fast dob (F/4.3, for instance) then a 2 speed focuser like the Feathertouch is a worthwhile upgrade, though not a cheap one. If you're using a JMI DX2 and your dob is F/5 or slower, stick with it until you get more experience.

Dannon,

I am surprised no one has mentioned the AM sponsor MoonLite. They make a nice focuser, somewhere between JMI and Feathertouch. I have a MoonLite on one scope and the JMI on another. I definitely prefer the Moonlite, but not enough to take a hit upgrading the JMI.

The JMI is a very nice focuser. I would only upgrade if it was a one speed and I wanted to go to 2 speed.
