I am thinking of dropping my 12" dob,and buying a celestron cpc925xlt,have had dobs only, what should i expect? will i maybe like or dislike, mostly concerned with the views,i will be visual observing only.I know i will be gaining goto, but other than that, what should i expect if im used to the dobs, ive wanted an sct for 30 years, and with the $400 rebate the cpc sound like a pretty good deal, when im all said and done,i only want to have one scope sitting around, what do you guys think, any advice would be great, thanks alot,j

Dropping from 12" to 9.25" will be a drop in image brightness and resolution. DSO images will be less bright and defined. Plus the C.O. will be about double or maybe triple what the Dob has. This will result in loss of contrast.
The decision is yours, just be sure when you make it that you can live with it.

I love my CPC9.25 and personally prefer it over the C11's and NS11GPS I've owned, but I also have a 10" Starmaster with a ZOC mirror. The Starmaster is a big leap ahead of the CPC9.25 (or any C11 I have owned) optically and I reserve it for the nights at dark sites when I want to indulge myself observing planets and DSOs.
The CPC, OTOH, makes a great second scope. I keep in on wheely bars and roll it out for quick peeks and it is a crowd pleaser at public events. But it comes in a distant second to the dob.
If you can keep the dob, go for the CPC9.25. It is an incredible deal. If you can only have one scope, you will probably be disappointed visually in the SCT.
Just my opinion.
