I have set up my Celestron NexStar 11 GPS for the 2" EP format. So far,I have purchased the Televue Nagler 17mm, 31mm, Panoptic 35mm, and a 11mm, also a 2" filter. What cases are you guy and girls using for storing the 2" EP's and accessories? I am looking at the one Televue has, any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

An affordable case can be had at Lowes hardware:

It doesn't show up in this photo but it is pluck foam in the bottom. I have 5 of these. 3 for my band for microphones and 2 for eyepieces and such. They are tough and cheap. Hard to beat.

Clear skies,

I made this of a good quality plastic toolbox. The eyepieces are located with 1 1/4" and 2" holes drilled in a 1/2" plywood base that is suspended 1 1/2" from the bottom of the box. I laminated 1/8" neoprene to the plywood before using the hole saw and made very clean holes. The base is held in place with small cleats that are hot glued to the gussets of the toolbox. There are also 1/8" shock cord hold downs for each eyepiece, powermate, etc. for use when traveling. Everything works great. I like this vs. foam as it allows air to circulate better and lets the silica gel do it's thing better I believe. Corgi is optional.

I use the Pelican 1550 cases, one for my 2" eyepieces, barlows and diagonal, the second for my binoviewer and 1.25" eyepieces. They're sturdy, hold a ton of equipment, and are waterproof for those nights when everything is drenched with dew. The price is very reasonable, given the cost of what you put in them.
