EP projection/focuser question

I’d like to briefly say both hello and thanks to the members of these forums for all the solutions I’ve found for the various problems I’ve had with my telescope (and never had to ask). When I use my eyepiece projection adapter, I find that some eyepieces have to be placed much closer to the camera body (some need to be out of the eyepiece holder so they flop around). Since I’m planning on replacing the stock r&p focuser on my Konus 8” F5 reflector, does this observation imply that I’ll need a specific profile focuser (high/low, plenty of travel, etc)? Also, is it safe to assume that the 2” to 1 1/4” adapter included with my scope will fit in another 2” focuser? The adapter is T-threaded, so prime focus photography is a snap, and my eyepiece projection adapter also screws into it allowing a stable connection. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Most aftermarket focusers have a somewhat lower profile than the stock chinese ones. My advice is not to worry about the profile of the focuser as long as it is less than the orginal. A 2" extension tube can be used if the focuser runs out of outward travel. If the 2" to 1.25" adapter threads into the focuser, you will probably not be able to use it with the new focuser. If it is barrel fit (like a 2" eyepiece) you can probably use it with the new focuser. If you are stuck with a thread in 2" to 1.25" adapter, you can use a 2" prime focus camera adapter instead.
