Eyepice advice

Hi everybody, I am sorry for posting such a thoroughly
discussed question. Somehow, none of the discussion here or the multitude of web sources gave me entirely satisfactory answers to the following questions (esp. question 2)):

1) Which power/exit pupil/TFOV do you find the most useful for
a) DSOs
b) planets & Moon

2) How 'densely' I need to cover power/exit pupil/TFOV choices? (I.e. how many eyepiece/barlow combinations I really need?)

3) OK, so which eyepieces to choose?

I did some research on the web and figured out that in 3) there are too many variables involved, many of them subjective. Nevertheless, answers to 1) and 2) should help me a lot with answering 3).

Stefan

P.S. This is for 10'' f4.72 Dob, I prefer DSOs, no eyeglasses, but want comfortable EP.
P.P.S. After thorough investigation, I have made a preliminary choice:

12 & 7mm Speers Walers, 2.5x barlow and the original
2'' 28mm 56AFOV Synta eyepiece

Does it cover sufficient range, or are there hopelessly wide holes left open? I plan 12mm SW to be my workhorse EP.

P.P.P.S. Please, no Naglers, Panoptics or similar suggestions. Simply WAY out of my price range. Already the
above mentioned choice is quite too much. ;-(
My problem is that I really want wide fields
- for feeling of being 'in'
- for less nudging at higher powers
- for deeper contrast while keeping FOV

Also, 12mm SW covers what 12mm and 18mm Plossl would.

Stefan, I have the same problem as you most eyepieces I would like are way too expensive. However I ordered some orion epic ED-2, they should arrive in mid june. According to the desciption they seem to be the poor man's radian at only 69$ each. I hope they performances will be reasonable. they have a 20mm eye relief and 55 FOV for every focal length between 3.7mm and 22mm. Not vouching for them as I have not seen through them, but I would suggest waiting to read posts on them when they come out before making a buying decison.
