Filters for ETX

Hi, I have an ETX-90 and wanted to know more about filters. I have seen on other threads that a Lumicon UHC or an Orion Ultrablock (narrowband) filer might be the best choice for the 1st filter. Does anyone have input on what these would do? and what might I expect through my ETX-90?

I do most of my observing in Memphis where there is quite a bit of light pollution. I also try and get out of the city to enjoy darker skies whenever possible.

Thanks, HADEN

I have used filters in an ETX90 and IMO the only filter that works well is the narrowband (UHC, Ultrablock, etc). A broadband filter like the Skyglow doesn't make much difference and there isn't enough aperture to use an OIII (overall image is too dark).

To get more use out of your ETX90, think about purchasing a solar filter. I use Orion red and yellow filters with my Orion solar filter. By itself, the view through the solar filter is a pale yellow. The eyepiece filters produce a good, darker and warmer contrast for viewing sunspots.
