Heater / controller vs dew shield.

I just bought a C925 after 20 years without a scope. Among the accessories, I bought a Kendrick dew shield but have been told I need a heating band and controller.

Never used one on the 2 C8’s I previously owned. I’m doing simple viewing but would not hesitate to spend a reasonable sum on a heating solution. Kendrick are a Canadian company with a good reputation. They sent me a quote with band, controller and battery pack. It was anything but cheap.

I’m also one who likes to have a good looking equipment, and the two stage controller they make looks like something out of the Jetsons. Very old-school design... seriously, it looks like it’s from the 1960s.

A lot of my viewing is going to be done 50 feet from an AC outlet so a battery pack is not something I need immediately.

Any suggestions?

If you were using C8's without any dewing issues where you are then you are not likely to need a dew heating system with the C9.25.....

That’s a sweet shield. Wish I’d known about before shelling out $80CDN ($58US) on my Kendrick. It’s nicely made but is essentially just thick plastic lined with thick felt like material. It has Velcro and a bit of foam.

I love the Kendrick Dewminator heat strip for large eyepieces.
