I just recently purchased an used telescope. The previous owner sold it to me at a good price so I bought it. According to the owner this is a Celestron Classic C8+ from the mid 90's. The telescope came with the OTA and an equatorial wedge + fork, 6 x 30 finderscope, DEC motor and a hand held control but he did not have a tripod to go with it. I'm kind of new with telescopes so I need some help deciding which Celestron tripod models will fit the wedge. I have heard from other forums that different tripods may have different bolt-mounting patterns and some of the new tripods may not even be able to fit the C8+. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Update: I just found a suitable tripod here at Astromart. Thank you all for your help.

If you can find an older "locked triangle" Celestron tripod it is very sturdy and will fit the wedge you have. I had one back in the day and liked it very much.

Contact Don Rothman:

He maintains inventories of a lot of older equipment. You can try an astromart ad first. But Don maintains the inventory himself so he's got money in it and needs a higher return than someone selling as a private party.
