I am working on my 8" f6 dob and I have know that when you put your dob in a near horizontal postion and look down the tube you should see the central obstuction or you eye in the center of the primary mirror.

(1) Does any one know what you should see if the Dob is collimated correctly?

(2) What is the name of this test?

(3) Is this printed in any book?

Thanks a million

Here are a few to get you started. Without a cheshire eyepiece and/or a laser you won't get perfect collimation but the diagrams found in the links below can give you an idea if your project is on the right track.
