in attempting to clean my sct, i used isopropyl alcohol and all that other good stuff. However, as i applied strokes to the corrector, larger and much more visible oily marks began to appear. Now my corrector is smudged so much, it's pretty much like a mirror on some parts of the corrector. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

Rubbing alcohol commonly available off the shelf in stores contains glycerin or similar oils to make it's easier on the skin.

Make sure you get as close to 100% alcohol as possible, like 94% or if possible 99% Grain alcohol, not rubbing alcohol.
Yes a drop of Dawn detergent in distilled water will help too.
Use a new cotton ball (large ones) each time you swab. Throw away each ball after it is swabbed only once, very important!

I got the same bad result when I tried off-the-shelf isopropyl as an eyepiece cleaner. A drop of acetone on a Q-tip fixed everything right up,.
