I want a 10" scope with Zambuto-like quality, with goto, with highest weight under 35 lbs. for under $3000.

Do they make Newtonians like this ?

If Meade can offer the LDX-55 10" for around $1,000, why can't I find the samething with improved image quality for an additional $2000 ?

Is the leap from Meade quality to Zambuto quality that costly ?

Thanks

"... that costly?"

Yes, but I think a 10" Zambuto mirror (just the mirror) costs manufacturers something like a few hundred dollars more than other high-quality options. Some of the other added cost you see in these scopes reflects that they are hand made, some that higher quality components are being used. None of the PTMs using Zambuto mirrors can achieve the benefits that come with the economy of scale and manufacturing efficiency that Meade and Celestron enjoy. There's no point in trying because ZOC is a small operation incapable of supporting ANY growth in production.

Have you considered purchasing the Meade LXD-55 10" and using it? If's it's not of sufficient optical quality, have Swayze optical (or some other highly competent optician)refigure the Meade mirror. You'll likely wind up with excellent optics for far less than $2,000 more than the cost of the Meade rig.
