Can I still use it? It's at the base of the scope.

I'm awfully sad I didn't notice this earlier (read as: crying). I put the whole thing together, went to use the restroom and noticed the dent on my way back. I JUST got this..as in 10:30am.

Anyway, here's a pic.

Is it new or used? Was there any damage to the shipping container?
Was it packaged properly and insured?
If it is new, ask for a replacement. If it was used ask the shipper to file a claim.
It is still usable and if you were forced to, it could be straightend out I would say.

Poor Sarah! I agree with the general sentiments of the group...ask for a replacement. Much of the fun of stargazing is knowing you own a nice telescope. A dent in a brand-new scope is enough to make the experience...well, less than fun. If what I have been led to understand about Hardin is true, they will replace the tube assembly. I know it's disappointing, but it will be worth the wait, and you will have a nice, new scope with which to enjoy the stars. I'm sorry for the disappointment, but chin up and try to look forward to the new and improved telescope! It will be bizzity-shizzle!

Sympathetically,

Walter

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.
