Low Profile Focuser Adjustment

Good Morning,

Here is the problem,

I have installed a low profile focuser and find that I need about 2 more inches of travel.

I realize I could purchase an extender. I would like to relocate the focuser to the other side of my sonotube. There is no room to move the primary mirror.

What is the minimum distance, provided that I moved the spider, that the spider can be from the front opening of the sonotube. I have a 16 inch newtonian. It currently is 7 inches.

Thanks
Steve

Steve, I'm not one of the experts but I can say that you should have no mechanical problem moving the secondary forward a couple of inches to achieve focus. The only problem becomes stray light entering the focuser because of the lack of length. You could always add a dew shield which will act as a baffel in front of the focuser.
