Hello,
I am going to buy my 1:a Ha solarscope. It will be the Lunt 35 or the Lunt 60mm. The 60mm will cost almost twice as much as the 35mm; will it be worth it?
Have never owned a Ha solar scope (or even looked trough one!) so I really dont know what to expect from these two scopes. I have "only" observed the sun with a Baader white light filter fitted on my C80ED and ST80 and I liked that a lot. So maybe I will enjoy Ha vieving as well wink But bottom line is: will the Lunt 60mm be so much better that it justifies the cost compared to the little 35 Ha?

Magnus,

Solar and night time observing follow the same rule. Larger aperture is better. More light = higher top magnification and larger aperture = higher resolution.

Except for cost I doubt anyone has regretted going with the larger filter.

You'll love h-alpha. It effectively doubles your observing opportunities. I'll warn you though it can interfere with houshold chores like lawn mowing. grin

Clear, sunny skies.
