Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has used/tested the Meade 10" f/4 Schmidt-Newtonian with UHTC coatings on the LXD-75 Mount? How do you like it? Pros and cons? Do you think the optics are up to snuff? Can you use this scope with relative success in a light polluted city? Thanks much for your time?

Best,

Joe

Hi Joe,

I'm surprised by the lack of response. There are 20 reviews over on excelsis. Most rate the optics very highly, but were dissatisfied with the mount. Meade has improved it somewhat, but it probably is still undermounted. Many did not like the plastic focuser, and had the typical quality control issues for which Meade is infamous.

With a 26 Nagler, you'd get over a two degree FOV and not need the go-to. I'd get the OTA and put it on an Atlas mount for visual, or a Losmandy G-11 for photographic use.

My $0.02... OMMV...
