Meade Telecompressor vs Focal Reducer

Is a Meade Telecompressor the same as a focal reducer? Where would it go in relation to the visual back, diagonal, etc.

Well historically they were the same thing - usually a one or two element design - although the versions out today by Meade and Celestron are Focal Reducers and feld flattners - which means they have a single (I believe they are a three element design) lens flattner added.
