Mount suggestions

Hi all. Here is one for the experienced. Sometime within the next 12 months I plan to completely upgrade my imaging equipment and I am pondering which mount to get.

The telescope will be a 14" celestron plus 5" f/5 refractor. The primary use of the equipment will be CCD imaging of asteroids and comets. GOTO is a must for this. I have been considering the Paramount, but one of the main features of this mount is the robotic possibilities. This I do not need.

Anyone have any thoughts on alternatives to the Paramount?

Regards,

Maurice

I would look into the Losmandy HGM Titan, a used AP1200 GTO, or the MI-250/MI-500. The Paramounts are nice (and extremely expensive!!) but they are more for a permanent type setup because there is no polar scope (or even a spot for one) and no clutches. You have to totaly dis-engage the drive train to move it manually. Both of these short commings do not make it too user friendly in the field.

The AP-1200 would be my first choice.
