Hi, I have had a tak em200 and have had no problems with it. Last night I turned it on and it seemed it was not tracking. The stars were moving out of the field of view. I turned the motor off, and the stars were still moving out of the field but at a slower rate.
I realized that it was running in reverse, for the southern hemisphere. I live in New Jersey, not Australia.
To turn the Tak in southern mode, you turn the computer standby switch on at the same time you hold switch S1 down.
When I did that the mount kept the stars in the field and tracked fine.
The problem will not go away no matter how many times I shut the power off and turned it back on. It should be in northern hemisphere mode, when it is first turned on. But it is not, and it tracks as if it were in the south right off the bat. I have to switch to southern mode to make it track.
I have not changed power supply or anything. It always worked fine for the past two years.
Have you ever run into this problem? How do you fix it? I am at a complete loss.
Thanks.
Joe.
