Just got their new catalog, wow Celestrons in there and all kinds of new goodies grin And Grey colored Orion sct's and a new 6 inch mct (really the Celestron?) (and who makes it for them?)
So anyway, anyone thinking about that 6 inch mak OTA for barely over 6 bills? Hmmm... (I'm still weighing my options on SCT or something like this...)

Cheers guys!

I'd be tempted to see if they sell a Celestron C-8, er, I mean an Orion O-8!
2 inches more aperture.

It's exciting to see Celestron/Orion alliance.

Fight off that evil doer Meade !! wink

Ron,
For $600 you could get a used Russian Mak, which will probably have better optics. Personally, I don't see the Orion 6" mak as being that great a value. Maybe these will surprise though and turn out to rival the Intes and Intes Micro scopes. Who knows? -- kinda doubt it though.
Clear skies,
Tim

Orion was bought by Imaginova, Celestron by Synta.

Ron,

Without saying anything negative about Celestron's customer service, with which I have no experience, my experience with Orion is that their customer service is great. This makes me confident that the scopes are good and/or Orion will make every attempt to correct problems.

One thing I like is that the goto features have been incorporated into established German mounts and they will be usable if the goto malfunctions. I just hope the goto feature is accurate.

The catalog also mentioned that a goto upgrade kit will soon be available for previously purchased mounts.

See you and clear skies.
