News On Sky Scout?

I can't find anything like a review, or anything about availability of the Sky Scout by Celestron. Are bugs being worked out, or is it just going to fade away into the Cosmic Background?

Thanks,

James Adams

i wonder if celestron ever thought about pairing it with a pair of medium aperature, hand-holdable binos (say 10x50). it'd be incredibly neat to have a hand-held, grab-and-go push-to observing system.

and if celestron does make a 2nd-generation skyscout like that, they now know who the patent holder is 8)

My hope was that the Sky Scout could be used in lieu of digital setting circles. It appears that the technology could be used for that purpose, but we'll have to wait for someone other than Celestron to develop it. As it stands, it appears to be a useful but pricey, non-essential item. Unless Celestron offers a considerable price drop they may find they have a white-elephant on their hands.
