I was checking the Orion Sale pages and they have marked down a nice 60mm refractor with 1.25" oculars and a red dot finder to $67.00. This is about the same price that Sears(or other companies) sold a 60mm alt-az for back in the late '60s/early '70s.
Of course the shipping will up the price a bit, but it amazes me the relative cost of scopes these days.
Even a small scope like this can bring an incredible amount of excitement to a child who has a genuine interest in astronomy.
