Orion Intelliscope Base

I am thinking of buying an XT10 Intelliscope. Is it possible to modify the base with "milkjug washers" like the classic? Will the encoder disk be in the way?

Hi Alan,
Yes the disc will be in the way. What I did was to add tree extra Teflon pads closer to the center pivot bolt. This worked pretty nicely. I also installed Ebony Star on the bottom of the rocker box, which helped the movement become smooth and less sticky than the original material.
