Polar Scope on CG-5

I have the generic CG-5 mount with the polar alignement scope (you know, the one that uses three adjustment screws and is a real pain to align....)

I am tired of re-aligning the polar scope which inevitable gets bumped every so often while in transport. I am wondering if anyone has ever figured out a way to permanently set the polar scope in the retaining collar once it is aligned properly......

Jake, I have the same problem but no solution. I also feel my purchase of this polar scope was a waste of money because I can't see the polar circle, let alone the tiny circle for Polaris. This piece of equipment is of little use without some means of illuminating the circles.

I do not have a CG-5 presently, but when I did, I went to the hardware store and bought a rubber o-ring to go around the body of the polar scope and inserted into the mount. The O-ring worked great and for a couple of years and much transport, never lost collimation.

Also, while I had a GP style illuminator for the polar scope, I just shone my red flashlight near the objective end of the scope and it illuminated the reticle fine.
