Poll: Astronomy Software

I'm am curious as to what astronomy software you people feel is the best out there? I have Starry Night Backyard and it is very good, but I hear a lot of good things about 'TheSky' also. Any recommendations or comments?

Thanks

Mike

PS I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or the 'Observing' forum but I guess astronomy software could be considered "equipment" as well.

Mike, I have both The Sky, Version 4 Level 4, and Starry Night Pro. Both are excellent programs. The Sky can do more things, but it is a steeper learning curve. I live in the SF Bay Area also. If you want to, you can send me a personal E-Mail to answer any questions about either software, or what kind of scope you want to get. ([email protected]) Good luck on whatever you choose.

Mike,

there is a very good freeware version from a french university. It's available in all languages. To me that is the best software I have seen.
