Hello all,
Its been a while since I have posted anything here. Thought I would give it a shot. Heres my dilema.. I have a meade lx90 and use a 7amh jumpstarter (not very big). Works great just running my scope. Well, the other night i hooked up my kendrick dew heater to it also by way of a splitter dc outlet and worked great for a while. Then, i ran out of battery life real quick. Im looking for ways you guys do it. I was thinking of just using my 7amh to run the scope and have a separate power source for the heaters..any recommendations? I could have searched through past posts but w/ new products coming out all the time, i would like to get the most up to date info....Thanks

Hi Tom,

Using 2 sources is what I do. I ran into the same problems a few years ago, but I was using a 33aH battery with a splitter and my NX11GPS would struggle when I had the heater controller attached. Going to 2 sources solved that problem.

Hope this helps,

In looking at the answers to Tom's question I'm amazed. How much power do the Kendrick heaters use, anyway? I use a 7 amp-hour gel cell for my scope and I can run it all night if I have to. Total current draw is under an amp, but I'm running two three-inch computer fans, plus home grown dew heaters on the Telrad and both ends of the 8x50 finder. Everything stays bone dry even under the wettest of conditions (common here around the Great Lakes). Why do the Kendrick heaters suck up so much juice?

One of my observing buddies has a 12" Portaball and he also has power problems when he has to use his Kendrick heaters, so I don't think it's unique to their corrector plate heaters.
