Re: GOTO System for C9.25?

Hello all!

I purchased a Celestron C9.25 that was non-GOTO as I wanted to learn how to navigate the sky. However after several years of owning the telescope it has become very obvious that I am just not dedicated enough (perhaps due to time) to learn how to properly find night time objects to look at.

I was therefore wondering if someone could suggest a decent (read workable but not super expensive) GOTO system that I can upgrade the stock CG5 mount/tripod that came with the C9.25?

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the advice!

Respectfully,

Sam

What kind of mount are you using? (Sorry, I cannot tell from the description C9.25.)

A much less expensive alternative is digital setting circles, whcih can generally be had for $300-400 dollars new.

Another alternative is a used Meade LXD 55 or mount, although it would be stressed for anything as big as a C9.25.

Have you considered a Howie Glatter green laser finder? Easy to find things with this.
I also use digital setting circles (Sky Commander( but I don't have go-to on my scope. I don't feel the need for go-to since I have DSCs. I can find even obscure objects rather easily.
YMMV. Good luck with your quest.

Why not consider the Goto version of the CG5? The CG5 and C9.25 is a great combination for visual work.

Another option is to learn how to use the setting circles on your current mount.
