Hello all,
I just got my new Orion ST80 and am interested in replacing the standard finderscope with a red dot sight. Can anyone recommend a compact one? preferably low profile. I have looked at the Stellarvue sight and it seems to be nice for the price. I have a Rigel quickfinder on my dob and love it but kinda wanted something that would be a bit lower profile so i wouldnt have to remove it for transport. Any ideas?

Please excuse my kibitzing, but if you already have a Rigel and love it (as do I mine) why not simply put the spare base-plate mount on the ST80 and pop the Rigel off/on as needed between the two? (Rigels come with two bases for that reason, and additional ones available)

Re-alignment takes only seconds (I remove mine after each session), and you can't get much lower profile than the base-plate sans-finder.

Do you want it to be lower than this!?!:
