Reticle Eyepiece

My 9 Reticle eyepiece crosshairs are not in the center of lens. I spent a couple hours trying to align, but just looking into the eyepiece, it's very subjective on when it's in the center. What is the easiest way to align?

Also, what is the Dew Shield of choice for a 10" LX200? The heated Kendrick strap looks nice, anyone have this and are there any other suppliers of heated dew shields?

Thank You

I took my first digital images Saturday night, mostly of the Moon and Mars. I was very happy with the images right out of the camera. I used a 10" Meade LX200, Scopetronics Max View 40, the Max Power to boost the lens and a 2X barlow, the camera was a Sony 717.

I would suggest aiming at a light somewhere and de-focusing enough that the circle of light just about fills the eyepiece, and try to get it (the fuzzy light!) centered in there. Then bring it back into focus and move the crosshairs to where they are centered on the light spot.

I've heard of people replacing the thumbscrews with setscrews so as not to move the crosshairs accidentally, in case you're only using the reticle for alignment purposes and not for guiding purposes, where you'd need to be able to move the crosshairs.
