Hi All

Is it common for an SBIG ST8300M camera to have one or two column defects on the KAF chip?

Hi Joe,
I am not sure, but my ST2000 had 3 large and 1 small "Bright Column Defects" when it was new.
My FLI ML83000 does not have any deffects at all.

No, it is not.
What you are seeing may just be the readout of a hot pixel.
It's hard to diagnose since you haven't included an image of what you're talking about.
Go to 'Application Notes' at the SBIG site and read 'Column defects and hot pixels'.
