I would like opinions of all you out there about a case purchase for my scope. I have a celestron nexstar gps. I am considering buying a softcase from casesandcovers.com. What is your opinion of using soft cases for such expensive scopes? I will not be shipping the scope in this, just simple transportation. Just from home to observing and back. It will be in my trunk (2001 honda accord sedan) so hard cases are a bit limiting because of size. The price seems ok at $175 + $10 shipping. Thanks for your advise

I prefer a hard case, but a soft case is better than nothing. I bought a military surplus case for my NS8GPS and it works great.

I use a softcase for my NS8GPS from casesandcovers and much prefer it to the hardcase (I had the JMI hardcase when I owned the N11). The reason I prefer it is just what you mentioned. The softcase is much smaller and less clunky than the hard case. It takes up way less space and the weight of the hardcase by itself is substantial.

That said, if I still had the N11 or one as heavy, I would prefer the hardcase simply for the wheels.
