I posted this question on the Coronado Forum but there is very little action there so here we go... Is it possible to put the 40mm SolarMax between the objective of a , lets say, 4" F/8 refractor and the diagonal (i.e. BF-10)? Just at the point where the cone of light is 40mm you place the filter and you have a resolution of a 4". I can open the side of the tube to be able to tune it. Since the light isn't parallel to the surface anymore, will the bandpass shift be too much? I know it might be too bright so you will have to use a strong ND filter to compensate. Any other potential problems?
