Hello, I took some inside and outside focus shot yesterday with ToUcam. Each images were an stack of about 200 frames. No additional processing was applied except brightness adjustment. Can you help me evaluate the optics?

Thanks,
GY

There is large heat plume / thermal effect. It is
most likely hot air inside close tube. Could also
be warm diagonal mirror in Newt, hot secondary in SCT,
something like that. Could be heat plume rising
out of dewcap front in very still air. That is biggest
problem by far. Could be something else (strange
obscuration, funky edge zone) but not likely.

There is also trace of astigmatism, but since
axis of astigmatism is aligned with heat plume,
I wonder if it is all heat effects. Maybe astig is
from air pooling in OTA.

Some evidence of an 8-sided pattern or "stop sign"
in the outer ring. Suggests to me something is a
little pinched -- looking for something with
8 screws. Corrector plate? Could also be
some pattern figured into a corrector plate
during manufacture.

Not much spherical. Good collimation. Good color
correction.

Basically nice optics. Main problem is warm air.
I would want to see another test after the thermal
problem is fixed.
