Well, after two weeks of waiting the new finder scope just came in today. grin
It is the new Stellarvue F50W2 and it is a beauty! The optics are excellent and the new helical focuser is smooth and sweet.
I will give it a try on the scope tonight if possible. But looking through it the thing is crisp and sharp as anything I have seen.

Hi Floyd: I too have the SV finder, only with the illuminated reticle. I also am very satisified with the views it produces. Just wondering, a while back you were going to install curved vanes on your SM, have you had time install them yet?, or did you decide not to. I have an Obs. 15" & was just curious. Gary Lohmeyer

Yep, the SV F50 was a big upgrade over the Meade F-POS that came on my Meade SN8.

I use a 12mm Omni Plossl in mine most of the time. 17X mag with a 3mm exit pupil snags those globular clusters a lot easier than that mediocre 23mm crosshair EP. It's also nice for huge widefield objects like the Pleiades. Planets are revealed as planets rather than just as bright stars.
